Margaret Alexander
Margaret Alexander, 92 of Hilo, died Sept. 24, 2019, at her residence. Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Santa Paula, Calif., she moved to Japan with her husband, and built a 42-foot sailboat, sailed around the world with her family, settled in Hilo, and built and operated the Dolphin Bay Hotel.

Margaret is survived by spouse, Larry Alexander of Hilo; son, John Alexander of Hilo

Manuel Daog
Manuel Daog, 90, of Florida and formerly of Hilo, died Oct. 7, 2019, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Hilo and was a retired Sergeant First Class with the U.S. Army. After retirement from the Army he had worked with several companies in Chicago and Miami.
Services were Friday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by son, Michael (Diana) Daog of Miami Gardens, Fla.; daughters, Rose Marie Daog Yuhas of Los Angeles, and Sandi (Kevin) Hagan of Maitland, Fla.; five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

James Frye
James “Jake” Clabern Frye, of Kailua-Kona, died on Oct. 4, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital in Kealakekua. Born on Oct. 24, 1947, in Lenior City, Tenn., he served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7, a member of the Purple Heart Chapter 731 and worked as a General Motors factory line inspector.
Private services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by spouse Carolyn; daughters, Donna Sue (Keith) Logan of Lincoln Park, Mich., Mary Jane (Daniel) Richardson of Harrison, Mich.; brothers, Charles (Brenda) Jenkins of Lenior City, Tenn., Larry Dean Frye of Florida; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Katherine Mallett
Katherine Joyce Mallett, 76, of Ocean View, died Oct. 7, 2019, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born March 14, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Mich., she was a retired licensed practical nurse for Kona Community Hospital.
